While using Tally many of us have come across Tally data error and we try to find out proper solution but some time it is very tough to get proper solution on time. Before proceeding any kind of solution of data error it is most important to know about Tally Data Structure. Here we will understand the basic Tally Data structure and files important to protect your financial data.
Understanding Tally Data Structure
Let us understand Tally data structure. Basically Tally Data include 2 types of file first called as permanent file and another called as temporary file. 

Permanent file : These are important file under Data if any of file get misplaced or damaged will lead to loose your financial data.

Company.900 : This file contain basic information of company such as name, login id and password, financial year etc. In case if this file got corrupted then you will not be able to see this company while selecting company in Tally on start-up. If file size is less then 3KB it may be treated as this file is corrupted.

Cmpsave.900 : This is backup file of company.900 file or it can be said this file is carbon or Xerox copy of Company.900 file. In case if Company.900 file got corrupted then you can Cmpsave.900 file as company.900 which will solve your issue.

Linkmgr.900 : This file contain tracking details such as bill no, reference details etc. If this file got corrupted then tracking details of your data will be removed but transaction will be there without any bill reference details.

Manager.900 : It contains accounting, inventory master of Data. In case this file get damage then you may loose your important data and it is very tough to recover in such case.

Transmgr.900 : This is most important file which contain all Transaction of your data. In case this file get damaged then then there is high chance of loosing data.

Temporary file : These files are more active when data is open in Tally mainly as TACCESS.TSF,TSTATE.TSF, TMESSAGE.TSF. If file size of these file is less then 3KB you can delete those file but out of these major file is TMESSAGE.TSF file. TMESSAGE.TSF file is most active file during transaction in Tally. All the master and transaction created by you in Data will be restore in this first and then this file works as filter and transfer the respective message to respective permanent file.

So it is important to know the basic Tally Data structure in Tally before proceeding any kind of trouble shooting on Data error.
